They say you never forget your first love.
Well, mine wore a ghost costume and delivered overly dramatic monologues as Polonius. 🎭
My very first encounter with theatre happened in Munich, at a magical place called TASK – a drama group that works entirely in English (lucky me, since German still looks at me funny). It was there that I took my first acting class, where someone told me I had a voice — and that I should use it loudly, boldly, to fill the stage. I believed them. I still do.
In our quirky, non-tragic version of Hamlet, I played not one, but two roles: the Ghost (yes, the spooky one!) and the ever-so-wise (or ever-so-annoying?) Polonius. That double role carved a permanent corner of love for the stage in my heart — and tuned my ear forever to the sound of applause.
That’s where it began. That’s when I knew:
I don’t just like theatre.
I need it.
More to come — stay tuned!
